Autograph Encapsulation Process

Step 1

Eligible Items

Autographed trading cards, photographs, checks, index cards, postcards and cuts are best suited for this service. As long as the autographed item can fit inside one of our customized holders, it is eligible for this service. View PSA’s current holder sizes to see if your collectible will fit. Non-licensed, replica and custom trading cards are not eligible for encapsulation at this time.

Step 2

Examination

The autograph is evaluated by our authenticators first. If deemed genuine, the customer may elect to have the autograph graded on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being best.

Step 3

Encapsulation

After authentication and grading, PSA encapsulates the item. A blue label displays the pertinent information along with the certification number.

Any item requiring a Jumbo holder will incur an additional charge of $30. Encapsulated items do not receive a LOA or COA, PSA tamper-evident label or DNA daub. You may request to receive a Letter of Authenticity in addition to encapsulation for an additional fee of $15. Call (800) 325-1121 for details.
