1963 Kahn's Wieners

The 1963 Kahn’s Wieners baseball set consists of 30 cards produced by the Ohio meat company. Each unnumbered card measures 3-1/4” by 4” and features a posed black-and-white player likeness from the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates, with a facsimile signature. The cards were printed with a white border, and the advertising message “Compliments of Kahn’s Wieners ‘The Wiener The World Awaited’” printed within a slightly larger bottom white border area. Each card reverse bears career information. The set is anchored by a highly coveted Roberto Clemente card, as well as Clete Boyer, Dick Groat, Tony Kubek, Jim Maloney, Bill Mazeroski, Vada Pinson, Bobby Richardson and Frank Robinson. The 1963 set holds the distinction of being the last year that Kahn's cards were presented in black and white. Succeeding issues would expand in card dimension and card count, and feature full color images.
