1928 Yuenglings Ice Cream

The 1928 Yuengling’s Ice Cream (F50) baseball set consists of 60 cards measuring 1-3/8” by 2-1/2” with images, which are strikingly similar to the 1927 York Caramel (E210) and the 1931 W502 sets. A thin black border surrounds the black-and-white photographs with the card number and the player’s name at the bottom of each. Regional ice cream makers, such as Tharp’s and Harrington’s, presented identical sets. There are two variations of multiple cards, though whether the dual-variety appears for each player is unknown. Each card back encourages collectors to save the entire set and redeem the set for a $5.00 skooter (the second variation mentions no skooter) or gallons of ice cream. Significant players from this set include: Babe Ruth (#6), Rogers Hornsby (#13), Lou Gehrig (#26), Ty Cobb (#27), Tris Speaker (#28) and Grover Alexander (#44).
