1928 Tabacalera La Morena

The Tabacalera “La Morena” set was presumed printed in El Salvador in circa-1928 with cards measuring 1-7/8" by 2-5/8". the exact number of cards from this set is unknown. Card fronts feature a full frame, real photo image of the baseball player in action, often with color tinting. At the lower left in the image is the card number. The reverse includes the player's name, card number, and the Tabacalera product name printed in Spanish. This set is anchored by Babe Ruth (#98), Ty Cobb/Babe Ruth (#105), Christy Mathewson/John McGraw (#107) and Lou Gehrig/Babe Ruth (#116) and is one of the scarcest sets of the 20th century.
