Paul McCartney

Sir James Paul McCartney, MBE (June 18, 1942-) was a founding member, along with fellow songwriting partner, John Lennon, of one of the greatest and most influential rock bands in history, The Beatles. In 1957, while still teenagers, McCartney and Lennon formed The Beatles, adding George Harrison in 1958.  Ringo Starr replaced Pete Best in 1962.  Over the next eight years, McCartney and The Beatles became an international phenomenon known as "Beatlemania," and created some of the greatest songs and compilations of music rock and roll had ever seen. With #1 hits like "Love Me Do", "Please Please Me", "I Want to Hold Your Hand", "She Loves You", "A Hard Day's Night", "Can't Buy Me Love", "All You Need is Love", "Strawberry Fields Forever", as well as the extraordinary "A Day in the Life," the band perhaps singlehandedly helped change the face of rock and roll music. (One of McCartney’s Beatles’ tunes, "Yesterday," has been covered by more than 2,000 artists … more than any other copyrighted song in music history.) In 1970, after a few tumultuous years with members showing differing individual paths, The Beatles split up and the members began to pursue solo careers.

McCartney quickly gave fans his first solo album that same year, a self-titled release, and followed it up with Ram (1971), which featured the popular single, "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey." McCartney and his wife, Linda, then formed the highly successful band, Wings. Paul McCartney and Wings released seven studio albums from 1971 to 1981, including the 1973 blockbuster album, Band on the Run. (Prior to that album’s release, he garnered success with the singles "My Love" and "Live and Let Die," which was the theme song for the 1973 James Bond motion picture of the same name). In 1982, he teamed up with Stevie Wonder for the #1 hit single "Ebony and Ivory," and later that year was featured on the duet "Say Say Say" with Michael Jackson. Incredibly, he has sold more than 100 millions albums worldwide, and has sold more than 100 million singles, thanks to his work both with The Beatles and as a solo performer. McCartney has continued to endure well into the 2000s as he has performed for presidents, appeared at the 2012 London Olympics, and performed for Queen Elizabeth II for her 2012 Diamond Jubilee. He continues to tour as of 2015, and remains one of the world’s top concert performers in terms of attendance and revenue.

Autographs from The Beatles, specifically of four members on one item, are highly sought after and tend to command extremely high returns depending upon condition. As one of only two surviving members of the Beatles, McCartney’s signature continues to be in demand. The Beatles are one of the greatest bands in the history of rock n' roll and artifacts from their illustrious career are in high demand can command tens of thousands of dollars.
