A superb effort whose success was insured by Bowman's comparatively weaker issue, with the defection of Ted Williams to Topps thrown in for good measure. As if this wasn't enough, Topps had the foresight - or luck - to issue the cards of then unknowns Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline.
