J. Gonzalez Olympic Gymnastic Legends Tribute Collection Image Gallery
Being a great fan of the sport, I thought this would be a fun way to showcase some great scarce and vintage issues of some of the greatest Gymnast that have graced the sport. Its obvious a work in progress, but my hope is to add such legends as Nadia Comaneci, Olga Korbut, Ludmilla Tourischeva, Vera Caslavska, Nellie Kim, Sawao Kato, Nikolai Andrianov & Bela Karolyi to name a few. The list will also eventually include American Stars past and present such as Bart Conners, Kurt Thomas, Cathy Rigby, Mary Lou Retton, Shawn Johnson, Shannon Miller, Kerri Strug, Dominique Moceanu, Nastia Liukin, Jordyn Wieber, Gabby Douglas & Simone Biles!

While there has been some debate among collectors for the reason of the variation, there is a general consensus that its print run was smaller in contrast to the green text issue.
The 1979 UK 40 card Brooke Bond Black text back variant version is known to be scarcer than its standard green text back version. High grade PSA key cards from the series have been known to command a premium on the open market as a result. This Italian series issued in 1979 was composed of a total of 411 different stars ranging from cartoon characters, to comedians, TV & Movie stars and famous personalities of that time period. While small in size, they were made of sturdy card board stock with Black backs and texted on each athlete provided in white text. The numbered black backs have a tendency to show chipping around the boarders, making high grade examples very challenging. As a whole this series is quite challenging to complete given the limited distribution market they were offered to.
