1960 FLEER 6 WALTER JOHNSON

Johnson reached his first World Series in 1924 at the age of 36. His Washington Senators lost the first two games he pitched against the Giants. But the team stretched the series to seven games, and in the ninth inning, with the score tied 3-3 and Washington's third pitcher in trouble, Walter Johnson was called in to see what he could do. His fastball kept the Giants from scoring in the ninth, the tenth, the eleventh, and the twelfth. In the bottom of the twelfth, the Senators scored and Johnson led the victory parade the following day down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. Washington had never won a championship before and would never win another.
