Collecting Sports Legends: The Ultimate Hobby Guide, a book compiled by hobby expert Joe Orlando, was released in the summer of 2008. Within the guide, the Top 250 Sportscards of All-Time were selected. This comprehensive list covers the best of the best from the worlds of baseball, basketball, boxing, football, golf, and hockey. Spanning over 100 years of trading card production, this list starts with rarities from the 19th Century and extends all the way through the post-1980 era, featuring the cards that profile the biggest stars in each respective sport. From Babe Ruth to Michael Jordan, from Joe Namath to Tiger Woods, from Joe Louis to Wayne Gretzky, all the classics are here. There may even be a few surprises so let the debates begin. The list was assembled with a host of factors in mind such as, but not limited to, popularity, historical importance, hobby significance and scarcity. Each card is listed, by sport, in chronological order. Cards 1-161 are baseball, 162-177 are basketball, 178-222, 223-240 are hockey, 241-246 are boxing, 247-249 are golf, and 250 is miscellaneous sports.
