1950 Topps Felt Backs

Topps 1950 Felt Back Football set consists of 100 cards, each measuring about 7/8” by 1-7/16". These unnumbered cards (arranged alphabetically) illustrate a black-and-white player image set against a color background on each front side, with his name, position and school identified beneath the image; the backs are made of felt and bear a college pennant. The key card in this set belongs to Joe Paterno, which is considered the Penn State coach’s rookie card. Other highlights include Leon Hart, Charlie Justice, Leo Nomellini, Darrell Royal, Doak Walker, and the rookie cards of Lou Creekmur, Ernie Stautner and Dan Towler. Twenty-five of the 1950 felt-back cards were produced with either a brown or yellow background on the front, with the latter more difficult to find.
