This is the second series of "World Champions" cards issued by Allen & Ginter, produced on the heels of their 1887 success. These 1½" by 2¾" color cards are nearly identical to the 1887 design. There are 50 different cards in the set, but only six of them are baseball players and three of the six names are misspelled in some way. All are rare, with the William Ewing card considered to be the #1 key. All the baseball players are from the National League. This series is collected as a 50-piece "World Champions" set or as a six-card baseball set.
