Great example of the first card in the set-corners are nicer than they appear on scan. Frick was elected into the HOF as an Executive/Pioneer in 1970.
Other than the obvious L/R centering this is a pretty clean card! The top/bottom centering is great and the surface is free of any major ink blots. While this scan isn't the best, you can see the "red" closer to the bottom of the card is not as "full" as it could be. Still a great picture all around, this scan makes the card apppear a little crooked. It might be, but I swear when you pick it up and look at it you can't really tell! Into it for less than the SMR price, this card is an excellent "filler" even if I never upgrade!
Though not this exact card, the 1959 Snider was the first "vintage" card I obtained in the mid-80s. Snider was elected to the HOF in 1980.
A great card, the nick on the lower LH corner a tad much to be an "8". Fox was elected to the HOF in 1997.
A gorgeous low pop card that has great centering!
A raw submittal, this was one of the last cards I needed to complete my Master set and I am into it for about $65. This card has great color and a gorgeous surface! I saw a "7" go for $300!
A low population card, PSA 8s have sold for over $300 in 2006! Too OC for my liking, this card will act as a "filler" until something better comes along.
My first half point upgrade! Nice top to bottom but a little off left to right centering this card IS nicer than the 7 I used to own.
Centered!!
I would like this card a little more centered but at least the borders are straight. Most of these cards I've come across either have worse centering or are "crrooked". If you find a dead- centered one of these it will cost you well over SMR!
This is the toughest of the variation cards to find in high grade! I paid WAY too much for this card but I needed it, I had the cash and I wanted it.......so I bought it!
The toughest to find variation of the the three. Only recently being listed as a variation within the last year or so by PSA, we will see how "tough" it really is over the next few years. I will get a 7 or better some day.
I had to have at LEAST one Mint 9 in the set and after looking around on ebay for a straight card with awesome centering I made this my first "9" purchase.
I paid too much for this card and it is too crooked for my liking! Still, it is a nice "clean" card free of any ink spots and has nice top to bottom centering. I have never seen a nicely centered one of these but I will try to pick one up should I be fortunate to find one.
Centering off a little left/right but decent top/bottom. Nice corners with a clean surface, this card is free of the nasty ink blotches and major print spots so common for this year. A great example of this card.
