1968 Topps - Master

The 1968 Topps baseball set if filled with superstars and it is home to one of the most popular cards in hobby history, the Nolan Ryan rookie card. Several members of baseball's 500 Home Run Club can be found in this set including Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Eddie Mathews, Harmon Killebrew, Willie McCovey, Ernie Banks, and Frank Robinson. Some very popular combo cards, 2nd year cards of Hall of Famers Tom Seaver and Rod Carew and a few rare variations also inhabit this very collectible set. While the set may not be one of the most difficult issues from the 1960s, there are a few condition obstacles to look for. The patterned and colored borders often help conceal wear, print defects wreak havoc on the face and the yellow reverse is often found chipped. Throw in the typical centering issues for vintage cards and you have a fairly challenging set. With the overall star power included in this one, the 1968 Topps set ranks high on many collector want lists.
