Published Set: The Bivens Collection: 1960 Topps Baseball
I started collecting cards in the mid 1980's when I was 10 years old. For a variety of reasons, I was really into vintage and decided to start compiling the 1960 Topps set -- chosen for its cool design and the idea that 1960 was full of great HOFs (including those on the tail end of their career like Musial) but didn't seem out of reach to actually complete one day. I would order cards from the Kit Young Catalog and visit my local stores as often as possible. With very limited funds, I usually opted for the VG-EX versions and had to really save up to acquire any major stars. By the time I was 15, I had around 200 cards (including the Yaz) but had tired of collecting. The partial set was stuffed into a closet. Fast forward nearly 15 years later --- I'm reading a book about Christy Mathewson and decide to pull out my old cards. The excitement I had as a kid comes flooding back. My goal is to finish what I started nearly 20 years ago - complete the 1960 Topps set. However, I'm going to do it right and attempt a high-end grade version. Ultimately, I'd like everything PSA 8 or better, but I'll plug lesser cards in until I'm able to upgrade. Feel free to contact me via email if you have any PSA 8 or better that I can use.
