Released by the Goudey Gum Company, the 1933 R333 set consists of 24 multi-colored cards measuring 2” by 3”. Each item features a stylized color backdrop and photographic player likeness, with his name and home team city identified in a rectangle at the bottom edge. Card backs feature informational text. The set is full of Hall of Fame talent, with the most desirable exemplar belonging to Lou Gehrig (#7). Al Simmons (#2), Bill Terry (#4), Charlie Gehringer (#5), Mickey Cochrane (#6), Kiki Cuyler (#8), Fred Linstrom (#11), Pie Traynor (#12), Rabbit Maranville (#13), Lefty Gomez (#14), Chick Hafey (#19), Jimmie Foxx (#21), Chuck Klein (#22), Lefty Grove (#23), and Goose Goslin (#24) anchor the set. DeLong Gum’s 1933 series – the only card set issued by the company -- has always been considered one of the most elusive of all 1930s issues and very difficult to find in complete sets.
