1921 American Caramel Series of 80 (E121)
The circa-1921 American Caramel (E121) baseball set consists of 80 players with each card measuring approximately 2” by 3-1/4” each. Each unnumbered card features a black-and-white player images within a thin black outline and larger white perimeter border. The player’s full name, team name, position, and league also appear within the image area. This unique set displays two different American Caramel Company backs with the common variation’s first line ending with the word “the” as opposed to the more rare version which end with “eighty.” Despite American Caramel’s claim that there are 80 cards in the set, more than 120 cards including variations have surfaced. The set is anchored by Hall of Famers Grover Cleveland Alexander, Ty Cobb, Rogers Hornsby, Walter Johnson and Tris Speaker and included their respective variations.
