Market Happenings: Making Our Bid; Triple sSs Launches New Web Site; Memory Lane Seeks Consigments
Let's face it. As hobbyists, we all have the desire to collect, to complete, to compete... and to bid. Whether it's through an online venue or the traditional catalogue-in-the-mailbox route, collectors will bid in any auction if the material is of a high enough quality. PSA President Joe Orlando shares some thoughts on the place of sports memorabilia auctions in the hobby. Also: Triple sSs Sportscards' new web site is now online, and Memory Lane is seeking consignments to its Fall 2004 auction. Click here to read more.

Barry Bonds -- The Chaser and the Chased
Even as Barry Bonds is chasing Hank Aaron's all-time home run record, he himself is being chased -- by allegations of steroid use and the persistent belief that he always chokes in the post-season. This Sports Market Report article examines the career and the accomplishments of the best active player in baseball. Click here to read more.

Forgotten Treasures: A Look at the Beautiful Sports Illustrated Lithographs of the 1970s
Starting in the 1970s and ending in 1990, Sports Illustrated offered some beautiful lithographs, painted by award-winning artists, that featured and were often autographed by famous athletes. Now, the lithographs haven't been offered in years and some of those athletes have passed away, increasing the collectible value of the prints. Click here to read on.

Peter Parker - The Number One Current Finest 1982 Donruss Golf Set

Question: What cards, if any, in the 1959 Fleer Ted Williams set are considered "commons?"

Answer: Great question. Most of the cards are considered commons even though they all feature the great slugger. There are some cards within the set that are considered "stars" because of the demand for the cards, like the cards that feature other great players like Ruth and Foxx, or ones that have a really appealing design like Ted's All-Star Record card. Of course, there is the famous Ted Signs for 1959 card that highlights the set but the vast, vast majority of the cards are considered "commons" -- the SMR is a great place to start.
