NL Rookie of the Year Single Signed Baseballs
Each year, the Baseball Writers Association of America issues an award to the most outstanding rookie in each league and that award is called the Rookie of the Year. Sometimes, the winner is a player who goes on to greatness as his first full season is merely a sign of things to come. Players like Willie Mays and Johnny Bench fit this description. Other times, a player is able to shine right out of the gate only to succumb to the pressure of great expectations. This is often referred to as the Sophomore Jinx, where ROY winners fail to perform their very next year in the league. Players that never broke through to become major stars include Bake McBride and Scott Williamson. The names included in this set are fascinating for that very reason.
Notes: All balls autographed on the "sweet spot" receive 1 bonus point. In order for a single-signed graded baseball to qualify for the Single-Signed Baseball categories, the item must have undergone the full, Autographed Baseball Grading service, which assigns individual grades for the autograph and baseball along with an overall grade. If the baseball was submitted under the general Autograph Grading service, which only assigns a grade to the autograph, please be advised that it is only eligible for the Any Medium categories.
