1966 Batman B Series Blue Bat

The 1966 Topps Batman “Blue Bat” set consists of 44 standard-sized, 2-1/2" by 3-1/2" cards. By the time these "puzzle backs" were issued, the Batman television franchise was well-established, and Topps was enjoying great success in its show-related card production. Each card pictures a different, bright cartoon action scene depiction of the Caped Crusader battling an arch villain. A brief description of the scene is printed in white lettering at the lower border of each atop a blue Batman logo with white pinstriping. The reverse bears a brief storyline that follows the front illustration, plus a puzzle segment in comic book fashion. This edition was also released in a slightly revised version – known as the “Batman Blue Bat Backs.” The reverse of the revisions feature a caption (the same as the blue bat) above the short storyline printed in white lettering within a large light blue bat.
