Robert Lee Griffin III (February 12, 1990-) is one of only two quarterbacks in NFL history to record a “perfect game” sporting a perfect 158.3 passer rating in his rookie year along with Pro Bowler Drew Bledsoe. (To qualify, a QB must throw at least 10 passes, have no interceptions, post a 77.5% completion percentage and an 11.875% touchdown pass percentage as well as 12.5 yards per attempt.) Only 35 NFL gunslingers have accomplished the feat. Griffin was a standout player at Baylor University, and the Washington Redskins selected him with the number 2 overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. In his final season with the Baylor Bears, Robert was named the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner and the Davey O’Brien Award winner while also earning consensus All-American status and first team All-Big 10. The strong and speedy quarterback also participated in track and field at Baylor and medaled in the 400-meter hurdles in both the Big 12 Conference and NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. In his first season with the Redskins, Robert Griffin III helped turn around the franchise that struggled to make the playoffs prior to his arrival as he threw for 3,200 yards and 20 touchdowns on 258 completions in 393 attempts. With incredible mobility and scrambling speed, he also rushed for 815 yards and seven touchdowns on 120 attempts. He earned selection to the 2012 NFL Pro Bowl, but was unsuccessful in leading Washington past the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFC Wild Card game.
