The 2000 Playoff Contenders football card set is comprised of 200 cards, each 2-1/2” x 3-1/2”. There are 100 base cards (#’s 1-100) with the remainder of the set consisting of 50 NFL Rookie Ticket Autographed Cards (#’s 101-150), 40 NFL Europe Rookie Ticket Autographed Cards (#s 151-190), and 10 NFL Playoff Ticket Veteran Autographed Cards (#s 191-200). The first 100 pieces bear an in-action photograph resting against a team-color background. A silver-foil “ticket” design enhances each design and features the player’s name. The signed examples feature an embossed “Playoff Authentic Signature” stamping on the card front and a gold-foil ticket design along the right side, while the European versions have the elements on the card front reversed. Without question, the key signed example in the popular set is the rookie card of Tom Brady (#144). Other key signed pieces are Brian Urlacher (#103), Chad Pennington (#112), Jim Kelly (#192), and Kurt Warner (#197). Four of the players in the signed series – Thomas Jones, Derrick Ham, Ronnie Powell, and Fred Taylor – never autographed their respective cards, though unsigned copies of Jones’ card were later released.
