Charles Alvin “Charlie” Sanders (August 25, 1946 - July 2, 2015) played his entire 10-season career with the Detroit Lions, where he established himself as a strong, speedy, and often-elusive tight end. The Lions selected Sanders in the 3rd round of the 1968 NFL Draft. While with Detroit (1968-1977), Sanders recorded 30 or more receptions seven times and at the end of his career was the team’s all-time reception leader (336), have lead the team or shared the title of team leader in receptions in six of his 10 seasons. He also totaled 4,817 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns. A seven-time Pro Bowler, Sanders was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
