1950 Bowman

Bowman Gum’s 1950 Football set consists of 144 pieces, each 2-1/16” by 2-1/2”. The set marked Bowman’s return to the football card market after a one-year break. Each card front features clean, captionless, colorized design of a player. This popular issue is recognized as the first full-color, nationally distributed set of the post-World War II era. The 1950 Bowmans set is anchored by Doak Walker (#1), Steve Van Buren (#23), Johnny Lujack (#26), Sid Luckman (#27), Bobby Layne (#37) and Sammy Baugh (#100). Key rookie cards include Y.A. Tittle (#5), Lou Groza (#6), Glenn Davis (#16), Joe Perry (#35), Marion Motley (#43), Otto Graham (#45), Elroy Hirsch (#52) and Dante Lavelli (#78).
