1996 Topps Chrome

The 1996 Topps set consists of 220 cards, each 2-1/2” by 3-1/2”. The design is similar to the regular Topps issue of that year, with color, in-action image, with the athlete’s name appearing in gold lettering set against a basketball design. The main difference is the chrome background and silver borders. The set is anchored by Patrick Ewing (#1), Chris Webber (#4), Jason Kidd (#5), Charles Barkley (#34), Kevin Garnett (#45), Grant Hill (#100) and Shaquille O’Neal (#220), as well as by a commemorative card honoring the Chicago Bulls (#72) and the rookie cards of Matt Maloney (#124), Shareef Abdur-Rahim (#128), Kobe Bryant (#138), Antoine Walker (#146), Marcus Cambry (#161), Allen Iverson (#171), Stephon Marbury (#177), Steve Nash (#182), Jermaine O’Neal (#191) and Ray Allen (#217). Because of the distinct background and borders, the issue is quite condition sensitive.
