1972 Topps

The 1972 Topps set consists of 264 cards, each 2-1/2” by 3-1/2”. Card fronts bear a posed color image set against a colorful backdrop with a black stripe. The otherwise white-bordered card identifies the team name in incrementally larger letters at the bottom border, above the player name and position. The backs reveal statistical and biographical data. Wilt Chamberlain (#1), Pete Maravich (#5), Oscar Robertson (#25), Jerry West (#75), Bob Lanier (#80) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (#100) anchor the set, as do the coveted rookie card of Julius Erving (195), plus Artis Gilmore (#180) and Phil Jackson (#32). Subsets include NBA playoffs (#s 154-159), NBA statistical leaders (#s 171-176), ABA playoffs (#s 241-247) and ABA statistical leaders (#s 259-264).
