1984 Topps

The 1984 Topps Baseball set consists of 792 cards, each measuring 2-1/2" by 3-1/2”. Topps chose a unique design for its card fronts, with an in-action color photo the main focus and a smaller headshot occupying a corner, adjacent to his name and position. The team name appears in large vertical letters along one side. All of the elements are framed in white. Card backs include the team logo, athlete’s name, position, card number, and statistics. The regular issue cards of Robin Yount (#10), Wade Boggs (#30), Ozzie Smith (#130), Rickey Henderson (#230), Tony Gwynn (#251), Pete Rose (#300), Nolan Ryan (#430), Cal Ripken, Jr. (#490), George Brett (#500), Ryne Sandberg (#596), and Mike Schmidt (#700) anchor the set. The rookie cards of Don Mattingly (#8) and Darryl Strawberry (#182) were also issued in this series. Subsets include 1983 highlights (#s 1-6), League Leaders (#s131-138), and All-Stars (#s 368-407).
