1982 Fleer
The 1982 Fleer set consists of 669 cards, each one measuring 2-1/2” x 3-1/2”. Card fronts bear a vivid color likeness with a thick white frame extending to the edges. The image is trimmed in color with the player’s name, team, and position identified within an oblong design near the bottom. The reverse includes his name, the card number, statistics, and a full-color team logo. This Fleer set is noted for the rookie cards of Cal Ripken, Jr. (#176) and Lee Smith (#603); it is also anchored by cards for Eddie Murray (#174) and Nolan Ryan (#229). This Fleer entry also boasts a couple of notable errors: a reverse image John Littlefield "pitching left-handed" error card (#576), one of the few modern rarities of the 1980s, and a reverse image Cubs logo and the back of Smith’s rookie entry. A subset (#s 628-646) features stars from the prior season.
