Eddie Clarence Murray (February 24, 1956-) is second only to Mickey Mantle (536) in home runs with 504 among switch hitters and is one of three players in history to record 300 hits and 500 home runs (Hank Aaron and Willie Mays). Eddie won the 1977 American League Rookie of the Year Award as the smashed 27 home runs, added 173 hits and drove in 88 runs for the Baltimore Orioles. On average, Murray had 174 hits, scored 87 runs, clouted 27 home runs and drove in 103 runs over his 21-year career. Steady Eddie played for the Orioles (1977-1988, 1996), the Dodgers (1989-1991, 1997), the Mets (1992-1993), the Indians (1994-1996) and the Anaheim Angels (1997). The eight-time All-Star selection was also awarded three Silver Slugger Awards and three Gold Gloves. In 1983, Eddie helped lead the Orioles to the World Series title with a .306 average, 111 RBI and 33 home runs. He also finished second in the American League MVP voting fir the second consecutive year. Eddie Murray retired with 3,255 hits, 1,627 runs, 1,917 RBI, 504 home runs and a .287 career batting average. Eddie Clarence Murray was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006.
