1962 Post Cereal

The 1962 Post Cereal Baseball consists of 200 cards measuring 2-1/2" by 3-1/2". Post distributed the cards (six each) via the back panel of cereal boxes with the format very similar to the prior year’s entry, with all of the player's statistics and photo printed on the front. The reverse of each card remained gray cardboard with a heavier stock. The major design change was the first 100 cards covering the American League and bearing a blue-and-white color scheme, with the second group of 100 cards honoring the National League with a red-and-yellow design. The set is anchored by all of the expected heroes of the National Pastime that season, with rarities including those cards of Mickey Mantle (#5) and Roger Maris (#6), which were printed on lighter weight cardstock and available as promotional inserts in magazines. The pair were attached and printed with a white background. Other scarcities include Juan Marichal (#140), Early Wynn (#55), Willie McCovey (#131), Norm Sieburn (#92), Gil Hodges (#101) and Gordy Coleman (#116).
