1962 Kahn's Wieners
The 1962 Kahn’s Wieners baseball set consists of 38 cards produced by the Ohio meat company. Each unnumbered card measures 3-1/4” by 4” and features a posed black-and-white player likeness from the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins and Pittsburgh Pirates, with a facsimile signature and the advertising message “Compliments of Kahn’s Wieners ‘The Wiener The World Awaited’” printed in a lower white border area. Each card reverse bears career information. The set is anchored by Roberto Clemente, Bill Mazeroski and Frank Robinson. Three cards have variations: Gary Bell was released with and without a “fat man” appearing in the background; Vic Power was issued as both a member of the Indians and the Twins; and Bob Purkey appears both with and without a facsimile autograph.
