The 1959 Kahn’s Wieners baseball set consists of 38 cards produced by the Ohio meat company. Each card measures 3-1/4” by 4” and features a player from the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians or Pittsburgh Pirates. The black-and-white likeness is accompanied by a facsimile signature and the advertising message, “Compliments of Kahn’s Wieners ‘The Wiener The World Awaited.’” The reverse carries a story entitled “The Toughest Play I Have to Make," or "The Toughest Batter I Have To Face.” The 1959 Kahn’s Wieners set is anchored by Roberto Clemente, Rocky Colavito, Ted Kluszewski, Billy Martin, Bill Mazeroski, Minnie Minoso, Vada Pinson and Frank Robinson. The short prints of Dick Brodowski, Harvey Haddix, Woodie Held and Cal McLish are quite difficult to find. Due to being packed in close proximity to the greasy food product, cards were highly susceptible to damage, making even mid-grade examples difficult to find.
