Robert Henry Adams (December 14, 1921 – February 13, 1997) Infielder Bobby Adams played 14 seasons in the majors and led the National League in games played and at-bats in 1952. That season, he batted .283 with 48 RBI for the Reds. Adams played ten years in Cincy, from 1946 to 1955, followed by stints with the White Sox, Orioles, and Cubs. He had 188 career doubles and a career batting average of .269. Adams served in the US Army Air Force during World War II and played military ball with future Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio and Enos Slaughter. His brother Dick and son Mike were also Major Leaguers. After his MLB career ended in 1959, Bobby Adams joined the Cubs as a coach, managed in the minors, and later became the president of the Pacific Coast League’s Tacoma Cubs. The California native spent his life in baseball and passed away at the age of 75 in 1997.
