The 1937 O-Pee-Chee baseball set, designated V300 by the American Card Catalog, appears to be a unique combination of the 1934 Goudey and 1934-36 Batter-Up and the 1937 O-Pee-Chee “Baseball Stars” sets. The set contains 40 cards measuring 2-5/8” by 2-15/16” with each card featuring a black-and-white image of the player in action in front of a baseball diamond and stadium illustration, fit with silhouettes of players fielding. Near the center of each card, the background reveals a die-cut that, when folded, allows the card to stand-alone. The backs are printed in black with player biographies in both English and French with the name of the player appearing at the top and “Series A” designation, presumably for American League players, next to the card’s number at the bottom. Key components to this set include: Earl Averill (#103), Jimmy Foxx (Jimmie) (#106), Hank Greenberg (#107), “Goose” Goslin (#111), Charlie Gehringer (#112), Luke Appling (#115), Tony Lazzeri (#117), Joe DiMaggio (#118), Bill Dickey (#119), Bob Feller (#120), Joe Cronin (#124), “Rick” Ferrell (#132), “Red” Ruffing (#136), “Lefty” Grove (#137) and Rogers Hornsby (#140).
