Tony Piet

1934-36 Batter-Up (R318)

Anthony Francis Piet (December 7, 1906 - December 1, 1981) led the National League in games played in 1932 with 154 as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Piet played eight seasons in the big leagues with the Pirates (1931-1933) Reds (1934-1935), White Sox (1935-1937) and Tigers (1938). Tony was a solid second and third baseman with a .967 career fielding percentage. His .323 batting average in 1933 was the third highest in the National League. Tony Piet retired with 717 hits, 352 runs, 312 RBI, 132 doubles, 80 stolen bases and a .277 career batting average. Piet opened a car dealership in Chicago after his retirement in 1938.
