Ralph "Red" Kress (January 2, 1907 - November 29, 1962) played shortstop for 14 years for the St. Louis Browns (1927-1932, 1938-1939), the Chicago White Sox (1932-1934), the Washington Senators (1934-1936), the Detroit Tigers (1939-1940) and the New York Giants (1946). Kress finished his career with 1,454 hits including 298 doubles, 691 runs, 799 RBI and a .286 career batting average.
