Edward A. Brandt

1934-36 Batter-Up (R318)

Edward Brandt (February 17, 1905 - November 1, 1944) led the Boston Braves in innings pitched from 1931-1934 while posting 15 or more wins during that stretch. A native of Spokane, Washington, Brandt spent his entire career on the East Coast with the Boston Braves (1928-1935), the Brooklyn Dodgers (1936) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (1937-1938). Ed utilized a forkball and in 1931 rattled off eight straight to start the season. An above average pinch hitter as well; he led all pitchers in 1933 with a .309 batting average. Ed Brandt finished his career with a 121-149 record adding 877 strikeouts and a 3.86 ERA.
