Johnny Evers - 1915/16 M101-4 Sporting News

John Joseph “Johnny” Evers (1881-1947) was the pivot man in the famous Chicago Cubs’ Tinker-to-Evers-to-Chance double play combination. Though relatively slight in size, playing at around 130 lbs., Evers collected 1,1659 hits, 919 runs and 324 stolen bases during his 18 year career with the Chicago Cubs (1902-1913), the Boston Braves (1914-1917, 1929), the Philadelphia Phillies (1917) and the Chicago White Sox. Johnny Evers was a three-time World Series Champion (1907, 1908, 1914), helped capture two National League pennants (1906, 1910) and won the Chalmers Award (equivalent to the Most Valuable Player award) in 1914. The Veterans Committee elected John Joseph Evers to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946.
