SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – More than 1,000 generously illustrated, premium-quality lots now available to peruse and bid on at All major sports are represented with an emphasis on provenance, authenticity and rarity throughout.

Opening the sale is one of only two known 1891 John H. Ryder Cy Young cabinet cards. Unearthed recently from an album that was found in a factory almost 65 years ago. The consignor had no idea of the rarity or even the contents found inside. This rookie-era cabinet photo of Cy Young is possibly the first image ever produced of Young in a major league uniform. This specific image of Young has been seen on a rare 1891 Cleveland Spiders team composite baseball schedule display, dating its origin to his first full season in professional baseball and warranting serious consideration as his true rookie issue. The card has been encapsulated and graded by PSA/DNA. An incredibly rare relic of one of baseball’s all-time legends. Lot #1 – Current Bid $27,815.

Offered in lot 5 is a 1916 Red Sox Championship pocket watch gifted from Babe Ruth to his attorney. This watch comes with outstanding provenance and is accompanied by a notarized letter of authenticity from our consignor’s family stating “This watch was gifted to my great uncle by Babe Ruth in exchange for some legal fees that he was due. The pocket watch was handed down through our family and has been in our possession for the better part of 100 years.” Lot #5 - Current Bid $6,655.

Grey Flannel Auctions is proud to offer the Willie McCovey collection. Highlights include McCovey’s photo-matched 500th Home Run Trophy that was presented to him on the field after hitting his 500th home run in 1978. Lot #562 is Paul Hornung’s 1956 Notre Dame Fighting Irish jersey from his Heisman Trophy season. Hornung is one of three players to have won the Heisman Trophy, been selected as first overall National Football League draft picks, and been inducted into both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame. Originally sourced from a Notre Dame teammate, this jersey is accompanied by a LOA grading the jersey a perfect 10. Lot #562 - Current Bid $10,721.

Lot #494 features Hall of Famer Garo Yepremian’s jersey from one of the most infamous plays in NFL history. Although Yepremian is in the Hall of Fame, he will mostly certainly be remembered for his unfortunate gaffe that occurred during Super Bowl VII. When his 42-yard field goal attempt was blocked, Yepremian scampered to grab the football. His failed attempt to throw the football was caught by Washington Redskins defender Mike Bass and returned for a touchdown. A rare piece from one of the most memorable plays in league history. Lot #494 - Current Bid $3,025.
