Newport Beach, California (July 10, 2018) – Peter E. Randall Publisher and ATS Communications are pleased to announce that authors Tom Zappala, Ellen Zappala and PSA President Joe Orlando, along with former Boston Red Sox All-Star infielder Rico Petrocelli, have collaborated on a new book entitled An All-Star's Cardboard Memories. The beautiful coffee table format book is the fifth volume in the series of award-winning publications authored by the Zappalas and Orlando including The T206 Collection: The Players & Their Stories, The Cracker Jack Collection: Baseball’s Prized Players, The 100 Greatest Baseball Autographs, and Legendary Lumber: The Top 100 Player Bats in Baseball History.

An All-Star's Cardboard Memories will be unveiled at the 39th National Sports Collectors Convention next month at the I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio. The Zappalas will be available at the PSA (www.PSAcard.com) booth at the convention center on Friday, August 3, and Saturday, August 4, to sign copies of the book, which details the personalities, playing styles and baseball trading cards of 56 highlighted Hall of Famers who played between the mid-1960s and the late 1990s. In fact, signed copies of the book will be given free of charge to anyone who purchases a Gold or Platinum PSA Collectors Club membership.

Petrocelli, who was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in 1997, had the opportunity to play with or against the featured superstar players in the book during his exciting MLB career. He discusses his relationships with the greats, what their personalities were like, and how they played the game. From Roberto Clemente’s uncanny ability to hit to all fields effortlessly, to the effective motion of Hall of Fame knuckleballer Hoyt Wilhelm, to the unbelievable bat control of Rod Carew, Petrocelli shares his views and opinions about the personalities of some fabulous Golden Era players and many of the greats that played into the 1990s.

Besides Petrocelli’s unique perspective on the players, hobby expert Orlando, who doubles as CEO of Collectors Universe, Inc., PSA’s parent company (NASDAQ: CLCT), educates the reader on every aspect of the baseball cards that feature these Hall of Famers. He covers the various trading card issues of each player as well as the rarity and popularity of the cards. What ones are the most sought-after cards? Which cards are the most elusive?

The Hall of Famers in this book span one of the greatest periods in baseball history. When Petrocelli broke into the major leagues, Golden Era greats like Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Sandy Koufax, Robin Roberts, Bill Mazeroski, and Don Drysdale still dominated the MLB landscape. Over the next 13 years, Petrocelli shared the diamond with the next generation of superstars – greats like George Brett, Carlton Fisk, Robin Yount, Goose Gossage and Dennis Eckersley, to name just some.
