New York, NY (Dec. 4, 2015) – The 1985 Kentucky Derby Owner's Trophy, Jackie Robinson's original 1962 Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Plaque, the coveted Clipper Medal awarded in 1868 to Baseball Hall of Famer and the sport's first superstar George Wright, and 2015 Triple Crown champ American Pharoah's halter are among the spectacular sports memorabilia being offered as part of the Lelands.com Traditions Vintage Sports Auction, which closes Jan. 8. 2016.
The auction at www.lelands.com also includes an Ernie Davis Syracuse Orangemen game-worn #44 jersey from his 1960-61 Heisman Trophy winning season, a Speedo swimsuit used by Michael Phelps in the 2008 Olympics and signed by the superstar swimmer the night he won his record 8th gold medal, and a Bath Ruth game-used bat and several single signed Ruth baseballs.
Additional one-of-a-kind horse racing memorabilia featured in the auction include a 1936 Seabiscuit Horseshoe Presentation Silver Ashtray, a Ruffian race-worn saddle from Jacinto Vasquez, 1977 Alydar Triple Crown silks, Secretariat Julep Cups from owner Penny Chenery and a Secretariat horseshoe nail from the 1973 Belmont Stakes, the 1985 Kentucky Derby silks worn by Angel Cordero Jr. on winner Spend A Buck, Alfred Vanderbilt's personal racing silks, the Alydar 1977 Champagne Stakes Presentational Jewelry Box and a Stage Door Johnny 1968 Belmont Stakes Silver Trophy, among others.
The Lelands.com Traditions Vintage Sports Auction also features a 1960s Brian Piccolo Chicago Bears jacket, the goalie stick used by famed Soviet goaltender Vladislav Tretiak during the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" game, a 1916 Ferguson Bakery D381 Felt Pennants Premium, a 1941 Hugh "Shorty" Ray signed NFL Football Record Book, an 1870s Princeton Football stocking cap and the helmet worn by Los Angeles Rams quarterback Roman Gabriel when he suffered a concussion during a 1970 game and subsequently used the following year in government hearings regarding the effects of head trauma on artificial turf.
