Pete Maravich Collection Highlights December Grey Flannel Auction. Now Open and Closes Dec 11

LOS ANGELES – A personal trove of memorabilia from basketball legend Pete Maravich including his LSU letterman jacket and NBA All-Star game jersey, were obtained directly from his family, will be auctioned at Grey Flannel Auctions December 11. The Holiday Auction features over 850 lots. Interested bidders may participate in the auction online.

Maravich wore the 1969 letterman’s jacket for all three seasons that he played hoops at LSU. Maravich averaged 43.8 ppg as a sophomore and 44.2 as a junior. "Pistol" would graduate with 3,667 career points, a 44.2 scoring average and would score 50 or more points 28 times over his 83-game career at LSU. Bidding for the LSU letterman’s jacket is currently at $55,000. Also in the lot are Pistol Pete’s 1978 NBA All-Star uniform, his 1968, 69 & 70 NCAA First Team All-American plaques and the hoopster’s jacket that he wore at the 1987 Naismith Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Also featured in Grey Flannel Auctions include: Tom Seaver’s USC baseball uniform, Willie Mays 1957 game-used bat, Johnny Bench’s rookie jersey, a rare dual signed advertisement by Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jordan rookie-worn sneakers, a 1986 Jordan Fleer PSA 10, a 1924 Washington Senators World Champions medal and a 2016 LeBron James jersey.

Tom Seaver USC jersey

This is the only known collegiate Seaver jersey sourced from the team’s student manager. In 1965 during his only season with the Trojans, Seaver posted a 10–2 record and was selected in the tenth round of the 1965 Major League Baseball draft. Bidding begins at $10,000.

Willie Mays 1957 Bat

The Say Hey Kid is considered to be the greatest all-around baseball player. Mays’ bat comes with an LOA from the consignor that in part states, “I personally received this baseball bat directly from Willie Mays in 1957. I was lucky enough to be on the field with my mother pre-game during batting practice. Mays handed me his bat to hold while he penned his auto. I shouted to him about his bat and he replied with “keep it kid!” Accompanied by a PSA/DNA LOA grading the bat a GU 9.5 and our consignor’s LOA. Bidding began at $10,000.

1966-67 Johnny Bench Cincinnati Reds Rookie Debut Game-Used Vest

Bench won the Rookie of The Year award and first of 10 Gold Gloves in his first full season in 1968. There are conclusive photo-matches to multiple images of Bench wearing this jersey including his Topps rookie card.

Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe Signed Advertisement

Fresh to the hobby is this recently discovered advertisement obtained by our consignor as an 11-year old at The Beverly Hills Hotel in the summer of 1952. Marilyn Monroe resided at the Beverly Hills Hotel and was dating New York superstar Joe DiMaggio. DiMaggio and Monroe signed the lad’s advertisement for Eddie Bergman and his orchestra at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
