There was the 1952 Topps find of 1986 and even the Black Swamp find of 2012. Both finds were incredible in their own right and ones that received an enormous amount of attention from the hobby and mainstream media. A recent discovery of seven T206 Ty Cobb cards with "Cobb" backs – dubbed The Lucky 7 Find – might arguably be the coolest find of them all. Collecting the 1977 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Card Set – Goons, Goalies and Guy Lafleur

bobby-orrJust a couple of years before Wayne Gretzky would change the game of hockey forever, O-Pee-Chee continued their dominance as the premier hockey card manufacturer by releasing their 1977 set. The set, at 396 total cards, is fairly sizable, but it’s one that is not anchored by any hugely expensive stars or rookies. While it does include the likes of Bobby Orr and eight different cards featuring Guy Lafleur, it remains relatively affordable. "Miraculous" Discovery Revealed: PSA Certifies 7 Rare T206 Ty Cobb Cards Found In Great-Granddad’s Old Paper Bag

A long-abandoned crumpled paper bag recently discovered in the dilapidated home of a family’s deceased great-grandfather contained seven T206 Ty Cobb (with Ty Cobb back) baseball cards. The combined value of the seven cards is estimated at well into seven figures, according to Joe Orlando, President of Professional Sports Authenticator.

Groundbreaking Discovery of 1857 Baseball Documents Could Rewrite History of the Game’s Invention

In Cooperstown, New York, the National Baseball Hall of Fame displays a plaque dedicated to Alexander Joy Cartwright Jr. that dubs him the "Father of Modern Base Ball." Further text cast on the regal monument credits Cartwright as having "set bases 90 feet apart" and "established 9 innings as game and 9 players as team." However, through the research efforts of SCP Auctions and renowned baseball historian John Thorn, new discoveries of the 160-year-old documents titled "Laws of Base Ball" have confirmed that the invention of baseball’s most foundational rules have been wrongly credited.
