The All-Time Baseball Dream Team – A Lineup for the Ages...Seen Through Their Cards

One of the favorite pastimes in sports is to assemble your personal all-time, Dream Team. In baseball, perhaps more than any other sport, the exercise is daunting. There are so many great players to choose from, and so many things to consider. What era did he play in? Do I focus on offense alone or do I pick the better, all-around player? What would the batting order look like? The questions go on and on, but it’s still a lot of fun. The rules are simple. The player had to be great to qualify for the team, but we are evaluating each player at their very best or in their prime. In the following article, PSA’s Joe Orlando picks his own Dream Team and explains why. There are some obvious picks and some surprises...and each team member is viewed using their most popular baseball card.

The 1967 Philadelphia Football Card Set – The "Yellow" Vintage Gridiron Issue

alvin-haymondThe 2015 NFL season is almost here, and we are sure that many of you have already drafted your fantasy football team or are close to doing so. It always seems like it’s the player who was overlooked to start the season that helps your league’s winner get over the top and secure the title. With that in mind and the football season about to heat up, we thought we would take a look back to one of the more overlooked vintage football card issues – the 1967 Philadelphia set. This 198-card set is easily distinguished by its yellow borders. The set also has a nice selection of Hall of Fame rookies such as #43 Leroy Kelly and #58 Dan Reeves to name a couple. In the next article, we take an in-depth look at this colorful 1960s set.

Myles Maxwell (mjm7478) – 1964 Topps Football (Best Vintage Football Set of the Year 2015)
When it comes to football card sets of the 1960s, you don’t often hear much about the 1964 Topps set simply because the decade is so packed with legendary issues. These issues include everything from the brutally tough 1962 Topps set and its black borders to the super colorful 1963 Topps set to the towering 1965 Topps Tall Boys. Each set has some measure of specific appeal, something that makes it stand out from the rest. While this specific set doesn’t have quite the star rookie power of some other period releases, the 176-card 1964 Topps set does offer a design rich with color and a degree of difficulty since ungraded examples have been hard to come by for high-grade collectors. This year’s winner boasts a GPA of 8.92, which makes it the finest on our All-Time list and it currently has a near full-point lead over the second best active set. Click here to view this set.

GPA Column Back
We have re-added the Weighted GPA column to the display page in the Registry. Now there are two columns, one which gives the set’s GPA and one that is the GPA with Top Pop bonus points included.
