Collecting the 1981 Topps Basketball Card Set – Topps’s Last 1980s Hoops Issue

toops-basketball-johnsonThe 1981 Topps basketball card set was coming off the card debut (1980) of NBA legends Magic Johnson and Larry Bird just a year earlier. Strangely enough, it turned out to be the last Topps basketball release of the decade. Just a few years later, some new manufacturers made their entry into the basketball card market, including Fleer in 1986. While the 1981 Topps set is absent any iconic rookie cards, it does contain an important Hall of Fame debut for Boston Celtics legend Kevin McHale. 2015 PSA Set Registry Awards!
The PSA Set Registry award deadline is Friday, May 29th. Any new sets or edits to existing sets must be published before 5:00 pm EST (2:00 pm PST). We do not extend the deadline for any reason, so please plan ahead. Prior to the deadline, please check each of your sets in contention to make sure that all the items are in place. As in previous years, awards will be presented at the annual PSA Set Registry Luncheon. Email invitations for the luncheon will be mailed out mid-June.
