  The 1968 Topps Hockey Card Set – Topps Introduces Hockey Cards to the American Masses

norm ullmanThe 1968 Topps hockey set marked the dawn of a new era in the trading card world. For the first time ever, Topps produced a set exclusively for American audiences and separate from the O-Pee-Chee production. Hockey was gaining in popularity in the United States, with much of the hoopla generated by the great Bobby Orr at the time. This set was smaller than its O-Pee-Chee counterpart at 132 cards versus 216 cards, but the colorful, horizontal design was virtually identical. It also includes a key rookie card of Bernie Parent.
