  The Importance of Grading Context

Simon Bourque CollectionIt's hard to believe but 3rd party grading services have been around for well over 20 years now. What was once a new and somewhat resisted concept is now a major part of the trading card hobby. Over the years, grading services and the hobby have evolved, but some collectors still struggle with understanding the grading concept in context. In the following article, PSA's Joe Orlando tackles this subject and suggests that more collectors could improve their hobby experience by understanding the grade beyond the sheer numbers.

The 1955 Bowman Football Set - A Vintage Football Issue That Has Generated Glowing Reviews

1965 Topps Hockey Card SetBefore you know it, the 1955 Bowman Football set will be approaching its 60th anniversary, but we have a little over a year to step back and appreciate this set prior to reaching the big milestone. Born during a decade that produced several highly-collectable football card sets, the 160-card 1955 Bowman issue is often overshadowed by more popular sets like 1952 Bowman Large and even the 1955 Topps All-American set from the same year. In the following article, we dig deeper into a set that contains a nice selection of Hall of Fame rookies, from Jim Ringo to Bob St. Clair.

Jahdoo1 - The Number One Current Finest 1962 Topps Bucks Baseball Set
Most collectors assume that the 1962 Topps Baseball Bucks were issued as some sort of subset to the 1962 Topps regular issue, but that is not so. They were actually issued as a standalone set, and they remain one of the most unique Topps products ever made. Within this 96-item set are a host of stars and each player included is featured either on a $1, $5 or $10 fantasy note. The set's top stars include Hank Aaron, Robert Clemente, Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax and Willie Mays. Since the notes were issued in folded form, the vertical fold does not negatively impact the grade. That said, due to their large size (4-1/8" x 1-3/4"), it isn't easy to complete a high-grade set. This set has earned a Best of the Registry award for four years in a row and is the 2013 winner for Best Topps Specialty Set. Click here to view this set.
