1934 Al Demaree Die-Cuts (R304), one of the Rarest Card Offerings, Surfaces in Auctions Sale, Ending August 12th
It's not very often someone comes across never-before-seen or uncatalogued collectibles, especially in the sports memorabilia hobby. One such major occurrence
Legendary Auctions
took place last year when a Wisconsin man found a box containing some of the rarest baseball cards ever produced: the 1934 Al Demaree Die-Cuts (R304) by Dietz Gum Co. of Chicago. And now the hobby has a chance to own them, as Auctions will offer these rare cards in its Sports & Americana Auction No. 5, which ends August 12th. Click here for more.

Jeremy Snyder   The Charged Up Collection of Jeremy Snyder
Jeremy Snyder has been a football fan since he was very young and, over the years, he has become a serious collector of PSA graded cards. The core of his collection is centered on his favorite team, the San Diego Chargers. Dan Fouts, Gary Garrison, Doug Wilkerson and Don Woods are at the top of his list. His goal is to complete the 1975 Topps Chargers team in all PSA Gem Mint 10s. Will he get there? Only time will tell but, in the following article, we find out how Jeremy got started collecting these San Diego legends. More...

Joe Orlando   Stephen Strasburg - The Real Deal
Stephen Strasburg has made a serious impression on baseball and the hobby. His blazing fastball, wicked curve and devastating change-up have already made mince meat out of many MLB hitters. Over the years, there have been many "sure things" in the sport but so many of them have failed. Is he the real deal? In the following piece, Joe Orlando explains why he thinks Strasburg just might be. More...

Simgin - The Number One Current Finest 1924-25 V145-2 Hockey Set
When it comes to sheer difficulty and condition rarity, you would have a hard time finding a genre that can compete with pre-war hockey cards. This 60-card set is no exception. While the design is somewhat plain on both the front and back of the cards, they are almost impossible to find in mid-to-high grade. The extremely thin paper stock makes the cards very susceptible to paper wrinkles and creasing. Some of the key cards feature legends like Georges Vezina, Howie Morenz and King Clancy but all of the cards are tough. The year's winner has the only complete set on the registry, a set that has a GPA of 5.56 - nearly a full point higher than the closest competitor in the category. Click here to view.

Question: Is there any advantage to consigning to a Live auction versus an Internet/Phone auction?

Answer: The live auction format has the potential of creating additional excitement since, in essence, the action is forced as the auctioneer calls each lot. In other words, in most non-live auctions, the pace is slow and steady throughout most of the sale while the live format forces the bidders to act quickly and right on the spot. The bottom line, however, is that most high-quality items will bring solid prices if placed in a major auction. The extensiveness and quality of the active bidder list is probably most important since you want the best possible exposure for your items.
