Bombaye - The Number One Current Finest 1951 Bowman Jets, Rockets, Spacemen Non-Sports Set
The 1950s were a great time for non-sports trading cards as the subject matter seemed to get more and more diverse. From political themes to music to fantasy, the sets just kept on coming and collectors responded. This 108-card set preceded the famous 1962 Topps Mars Attacks set by over a decade, making it one of the true pioneers of the sci-fi genre. All sorts of creatures appear here along with spaceships and men who travel the galaxy. The use of color in the artwork helped bring these characters to life and the kids across the country went into a craze for the cards. This year's winner for Best Vintage Non-Sports Set of the Year (1948-1959) boasts a GPA of 8.15 in this hotly-contested category, becoming the first set in registry history to achieve an average grade of PSA NM-MT 8 or better. Question: I have been working on a 500 Home Run Club display with autographs and images of each member. I was thinking of framing them all up into one large display. Is that a good idea?

Answer: This is a great question. Of course, this comes down to personal taste but I will offer the following advice. The problem with doing that, whether it is the 500 Home Run Club or any other club, is that other players may become members in the future. In that case, in order to keep your display current and intact, you would have to break apart the frame and reframe everything once a new player reaches the milestone. It is one thing if you are doing a team display or another display where the content doesn't change over time but, here, the content can change. If you choose to display these autographs, you might want to consider displaying them individually instead.

In your opinion, which one of the following baseball players had the best-looking autograph?
  1. Babe Ruth
  2. Mickey Mantle
  3. Ted Williams
  4. Roberto Clemente
