Joe Orlando   In Some Cases, Ignorance Is Not Bliss
In life, there's an old saying... "Ignorance is Bliss." While there may be some truth to this, when it comes to the hobby, ignorance can be very dangerous. It doesn't matter if you are buying or selling, the ramifications can be painful if you are not informed as people can either spend way too much on an item or leave too much money on the table as a seller. In the following piece, Joe Orlando discusses the topic and what impact it can have in the hobby. More...

Question: I collect vintage baseball flannels. Is it safe to display them on mannequins or busts out in the open?

Answer: With vintage flannel uniforms, I would never display them out in the open for one main reason - moths. There are a host of beautiful frames available for jerseys. In addition, there are people who do display them on torsos but they are often behind glass so the fabric is protected from damage. I didn't believe moths would ever be a problem in my life until they made holes in my suit! The moth problem does exist and the last thing you want is an insect eating away at the value of your prized jersey, especially considering how rare and expensive they can be.
