Question: Why is it that certain autographs are worth substantially more on a baseball versus a photo or other medium?

Answer: There are some players that signed a lot during their careers so it's not as if their autographs are necessarily rare, it's just that some players did not sign a lot of baseballs or, more accurately, single-signed baseballs. Since there are a lot of collectors who only buy single-signed baseballs for their collection, the demand for these items can be extremely strong. For example, Walter Johnson autographs (while certainly not easy to come by) can be located in the form of checks and cuts but single-signed baseballs are virtually impossible to find. The result is a massive difference in price between a cut and a baseball.

Which of the following current players do you think will receive the highest percentage of votes for Hall of Fame induction when they become eligible in the future?

  1. Derek Jeter
  2. Ichiro Suzuki
  3. Albert Pujols
  4. Alex Rodriguez
